Mrs. Ellen Jo Wyant

August 24, 1915 - February 08, 2009

Ellen Jo Wyant, 93 of North Vernon, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Mrs. Wyant was born on August 24, 1915 in Cookson, OK, she was the daughter of Joseph C. and Callie D. Chandler Smith. She married Leonard R. Wyant on May 12, 1947, he preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Wyant had been a homemaker throughout her life. She was an auxiliary member of the B & O Railroad Engineers, and a member of the Grandmothers Club.

Mrs. Wyant is survived by a son, Bobby Ray Wells of Columbus, four grandchildren; Pamela Sue Diebolt and Randy Wells of Columbus, Debbie Tandy of North Vernon and Ron Wells of Ft. Wayne, nine great-grandchildren, twenty-one great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Wyant was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Leonard Wyant, three sisters; Elizabeth Chandler, Myrtle Norwood and Bertha Adams, and five brothers; Clay, George, Chester, Clarence and Alton Smith.

Memorials donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Jennings County through the funeral home.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Weeks officiating. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10 AM to time of service.
