Elizabeth Ann Pennington

Elizabeth Ann Pennington, 79 of North Vernon passed away on at 1:00 AM Friday morning April 17, 2009 at the St Vincent Jennings Hospital..

Born December 13,1929, in Daisy, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Leona Smith Pratt. She married William Pennington. He preceded her in death.

Elizabeth had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Vernon AMVETS where she was chaplain for five years. She was a volunteer at the North Vernon Nursing Home for several years. She was an avid reader and also loved to do counted cross-stitch.

Mrs. Pennington is survived by her daughter, Hope Gayle (Francis) Deppe of North Vernon, two sons, Jerry (Carol) Pennington of Columbus and Robert (Carol) Pennington of North Vernon, one brother, Arthur Pratt of Kentucky, one sister, Bonnie Webster of Indianapolis. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Nichole Waldon, Stacy Ruddick, Joshua Smith, Elizabeth and Jason Pennington, Brandy Rodriguez and John Pennington, and 15 great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Lewis Shepherd, Isaac Pratt, and Willard Pratt, two sisters Drucilla Halcomb and Gertrude Griffie, a great- grandson, William Smith, and two great-granddaughters, Daisy Smith and Jocelyn Smith.

Funeral Information

There will be a graveside service on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Vernon Cemetery with the Reverend Rodney Richardson officiating. Sawyer ~ Pickett Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
