Eldora J. Vaught

Eldora Jane Anderson Vaught,80 of Scottsburg, formerly of North Vernon, passed away at 3:00 AM on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Waters of Scottsburg Health Care Center.

Born February 6, 1929 in Smith Mills, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late William and Flora Anderson of Stanford, Kentucky. She later married Archie Vaught on July 25, 1947.

Mrs. Vaught was a member of the Jennings Church of Christ and a graduate of Junction City High School in Kentucky. She worked as a surgical nurse in Louisville, Kentucky in the early 1960's. She owned and operated several restaurants in Louisville and southern Indiana. She later worked as a hostess for the Holiday Inn in Seymour from 1965-1971. She assisted her husband with the family owned business, Vaught and Son Pest Control until 1998.

She is survived by her son, Lou Vaught of Scottsburg; one daughter, Raylene Terrell of Salem; two sisters, Louise Phillips of Stanford and Doris Barber of New Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Heather Bush Vogel and Brian Bush of North Vernon, Melissa Burton and Darren Terrell of Salem and 5 great-grandchildren.

Eldora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Wendy Bush and a brother, Lester Roberts.

Funeral Information

A private service was held at on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with the burial at Otter Creek Cemetery.
