Edward Coleman "E. C." Frederick, 97, of Commiskey, passed away at 7:15 pm on Monday, January 7, 2013, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born November 19, 1915, in Lincoln County, KY, Edward was the son of the late Jesse Dye and Lula Florence Gifford Frederick. He graduated as co-valedictorian from McKinney High School in Kentucky in 1934. He spent one year in Delta, UT, in the CCC camp. In 1940, he married Corena Graybeal. She preceded him in death.
Edward worked at Wright Aeronautical in Cincinnati during WW II. In 1948, he moved to Indiana and began farming. He retired in 1979 from Cummins Engine Company, after 29 years of service. He was a long time, faithful member of Commiskey Church of God. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gospel music, especially southern gospel quartets, farming, gardening, hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Edward is survived by four sons, Edward (Martha) Frederick of Madison, Anthony (Lana) Frederick of Yankton, SD, Daryl (Carla) of Floral City, FL, and Jeff (Pam) Frederick of Commiskey; one daughter, Faye (Roger) Law of Commiskey; fourteen grandchildren, Lora (Bill) Nott, Jodie (Jay) Roque, Leslie (Alan) Jackson, Greg (Teena)Frederick, Mike (Karen) Frederick, Doug (Courtney) Frederick, Karen (Larry) Chilman, Kimberley (Jerry ) Chilman, Melissa (Justin) Ellerbrook, Cindy (Mark) Hines, Daryl Frederick, Jr., Nash (Becky) Frederick, Justin Frederick,Corianna Frederick, and Reagan Hill; 32 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by four sisters, Ella Coffey, Bertha Smith, Catherine Peck and Alma Hermanstofer.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev Glenn Peck and Rev. Jimmy Albertson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
