Ms. Edith Sturgill

October 16, 1942 - December 21, 2014

Edith Sturgill, 72, of North Vernon passed away at 1:03 PM Sunday, December 21, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Born October 16, 1942, in Hazard, KY, Edith was the daughter of Mack and May Baker Arnett. She married James Sturgill. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2004.

Edith worked as a nurse's aide at the Greensburg Nursing Home. She enjoyed watching television.

Edith is survived by five daughters, Patricia A. (Gary) Burchett, of Deputy, Mary (James) Long and Donna (Dave) Brackett, Lisa Creech, and Norma Stokes, all of North Vernon; son, Luther (Linda) J. Sturgill, of North Vernon; two sisters, Faye Tatman and Sue England, of North Vernon; three brothers, Mack Arnett, of Greensburg, Don Arnett, of North Vernon, and Joe Johnson, of California; sister-in-law, Connie Arnett, of Osgood; 19 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Marie Mullins; brothers, Bobby Arnett, Buddy Arnett, and Billy Arnett; grandson, Jeffrey Allen Highfill Jr., and great-grandson, Byron J. Piper.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Rev. John Willis will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday.
