Mrs. Edith B. Hotchkiss

Edith Hotchkiss, 82, of North Vernon passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 8:03 a.m. at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, In.

Mrs. Hotchkiss was born on December 8, 1927 in Hazard, KY., she was the daughter of the late Troy and Dicie Griffith Bailey. She later married Merlin B. Hotchkiss in 1947. He preceded her in death.

Edith had worked in manufacturing and retired from Kittenger Furniture in New York. She had also worked at Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Eastern Star at Genesse Lodge in Perry, New York and had served as Worthy Matron. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, sewing, singing, playing guitar and watching western movies.

She is survived by a son, Michael J. Hotchkiss (Donna) of North Vernon, a sister, Zola (Arthur) Mummary of Rochester, New York a brother Reed (Margaret) Bailey of Washington State and a step grandson Michael Fluharty of Virginia Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Troy and Robert Bailey and two sisters, Opal Richardson and Eva Eversole.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
