Eddie Eugene Hibbs, 62, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at his home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Trinity Full Gospel Church in North Vernon. Rev. Robert Johnson and Rev. Terry Branum will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Born October 18, 1953, in Kansas City, KS, Eddie was the son of John and Theresa (Burrow) Hibbs. He married Nancy Burton, and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2006.
Eddie worked as a truck driver for Best Way Disposal, and was a member of Hope House of Prayer. He enjoyed bowling, softball, hunting, and especially babysitting his great-grandson, Ryker.
Survivors include a daughter, Wendy (Charles) McDowell of Salem, IA; a son, James (Shauna) Hibbs of Elizabethtown; stepchildren, Kristy (Lonny) Burton of Columbus, Sara Beth (Jordan) Hibbs and Bobbie Sue (Scott) Reeves of Madison; brother, John Lee Hibbs, Jr. of North Vernon; fiancé, Dawn Reeves of North Vernon; nine grandchildren, Shayla Hibbs, Holden McDowell, Baylen, Haley and Dakota Burton, Zoey and Conor Pickett-Hibbs, Dyllon and Keegan Clement; and great-grandchild, Ryker Lee Burton.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; son, Shane Alan Hibbs; two brothers, Jimmy and Keith Hibbs; sister, Leanne Zolton; and best friend, Gary Lucas.
