E. Lee Vance, 81, of Lovett, passed away on February 27, 2011 at his residence.
Born August 10, 1929 in Lovett, Lee was the son of George and Nellie Morin Vance. He married Anita Shumate in January 1948 in Scottsburg. She survives.
Mr. Vance had been employed with B & O Railroad since 1950, retiring as a conductor. He had been awarded Railroader of the Year. He was a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church, and enjoyed farming and being outdoors.
In addition to his wife, Anita, he is survived by two sons, Michael (Linda) and Barry (Sandy) Vance, all of North Vernon; two daughters, Kathie (Eddie) Maschino of Hayden and Karen Perry of Commiskey; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ruth Hanna, Mary Wuest, Edna Bear, and Martha Deaton; two brothers, Ernest Vance and Bill Vance and one great-granddaughter, Jordyn Vance.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Tea Creek Baptist Church, with the rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Interment will be in Tea Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2011 at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at Tea Creek Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Tea Creek Cemetery or the Jordyn Vance Scholarship through the Jennings County Community Foundation.
