E. Christena Biehle

September 29, 1920 - June 22, 2010

E. Christena (Wiley) Biehle, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born on September 29, 1920 in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Walter Oren and Margaret Ann Henney Wiley. She married Charles Eugene (Gene) Biehle on April 2, 1945 in Columbus. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1987.

Christena was a homemaker and had graduated from Scipio High School in 1939. She had worked for the White House Department Store and Noblitt Sparks in Columbus. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Society in North Vernon. She was a member of the Jennings County Genealogical Society, Ripley County Historical Society, Society of Indiana Pioneers, Daughters of 1812 War and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a volunteer Speech Therapy aid at St. Mary's School, a
4-H leader, enjoyed genealogy, cake decorating, and flower arranging.

She is survived by six children, Patty (Gail) Cook, Marilyn (David) Beesley, Joe (Debbie) Biehle, Janet (Jerry) St. John, Mike (Linda) Biehle, Doris Eileen (Paul) Boas all of North Vernon; 15 grandchildren, Dara (Kevin) Dougherty, Danette (Tom) Kirchner, Danene (Donnie) Pifer, Jenny (Dave) Vogel, Becky (David) Vanderbur, Beth Beesley, Kristie (Todd) Vogel, Jodi (Chris) Hogan, Lindy (Isaiah) Hensley, Charlie (Tracy) St. John, Clint St. John, Joni Biehle, Michael Biehle II, Allie Biehle, Casey Boas and 23 great-grandchildren, Kayla Cox, Chelsea Cook, Colton Pifer, Dani, Matt and Bryce Kirchner, Adam and Caleb Dougherty, Ashley, Allison, Amy and Andy Vogel, Megan and Katie Vanderbur, Nathan, Payton, and Karlee Vogel, Luke, and Cameron Hensley, Dylan and Easton Hogan, Cody and Wyatt St. John.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers John and Ed Wiley.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon with the Rev. John Fink officiating. A Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Springer Cemetery
