Mr. Douglas A Coryell

November 05, 1943 - September 04, 2012

Douglas A Coryell, 68, of North Vernon passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at his home.

Born November 5, 1943 in Midland Texas, Douglas was the son of Elmer Harvey and Edna Marie Pearson Coryell. He married Paula R Bingham on December 24, 1989.

Mr. Coryell was a member of First Baptist Church in North Vernon, ABC Bowling League and Ducks Unlimited. He was employed with Chrysler in Indianapolis for 16 years and U.S. Sugar in Florida for 16 years. He was also employed with Prolift in Indianapolis for 5 years and Waste Management for 5 years. Douglas enjoyed Mopars, Nascar, bowling, mushroom hunting, 4 wheeling, cooking out, working in the garage and spending time with his family. He was an avid Earnhardt fan. As a child his nickname was Little General. He built his first motor at the age of 12.

He is survived by his wife, mother, 3 daughters; Mimi J Coryell of Franklin, Shannon (Mike) Coldiron of Georgia and Jenny Lowery of Florida; 3 sons, Douglas J (Bernice) Coryell and Mark A. (Brenda) Coryell both of Franklin and James Johnston of Indianapolis; 2 brothers, Terry (Dawn) Coryell of Trafalgar and Randy (Linda) Coryell of Franklin, 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Coryell was preceded in death by his father, Elmer, a son, Michael Coryell, a brother, Noel Coryell and a sister, Sherry Coryell.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon. Rev. Bob Weeks will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, and from 10 am until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
