Dorothy "Dottie" Lee (Davis) Acton, 90, was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:40 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital. She was a true servant of God and was devoted to her church which she attended when she was able.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Born December 8, 1927, in Red Boiling Springs, TN, Dottie was the daughter of the late Pleas and Mattie Wilson Davis. She attended Red Boiling Springs High School. She later moved with her sister to Columbus, IN, where they both gained employment. While working, she met her future husband, William "Bill" Lee Acton, and were married in 1960. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1988.
Dottie loved her family and friends and was grateful for all of them. She enjoyed baking and cooking for friends and family. She was an avid sports fan, especially for the Colts. She followed football, basketball, tennis, golf and the Olympics. Dottie was a member of First Christian Church in North Vernon.
She is survived by her son, Ken (Teresa) Acton of Whiteland; two grandchildren, Scott Acton of Greenwood and Becca (Josh) Wilson of Whiteland; one great grandchild, Tyler Wilson; four sisters, Billie Estes of North Vernon, Shirley Good of Argola, IL, Rita (Johnny) Likens of Tompkinsville, KY and Lillie (Larry) Delk of Lafayette, TN; 30 nieces and nephews; several other extended family; and caregivers, Tommie and Ed Acton and Sherrie Greene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pleas and Mattie Davis; husband, Bill Acton; four brothers, Louis, Leon, Charles and Bobby Davis; and one sister, Imogene Burgess.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Christian Church Missions.
