Mrs. Dorothy M. Jeffries

December 10, 1928 - October 31, 2014

Dorothy M. Jeffries, 86, of North Vernon, IN, passed away at 12:37 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014, at Ripley Crossing, in Milan.

Born February 10, 1928, in Terre Haute, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Glenn and Letha Buckley Wells. She graduated from Southport High School. She married Donald Jeffries on May 15, 1953, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2009.

Dorothy had been employed for 20 years at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where she worked as a recreational therapist. She loved flowers and birds.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Carrico of Moores Hill, and Kathleen Jeffries of Indianapolis; one son, Michael Jeffries of Milan; two sisters, Ruth Homsher of Phoenix, AZ, and Joan Bearry of New Whiteland; three grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Nicholas Carrico; and two great grandchildren, Keeley and Bristol Carrico.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and John Wells, and two sisters, Louise Wells and Lorene Mackey.

Funeral Information

A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Visitation will follow rosary service from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
