Dorothy M. Eakins, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:39 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Tracy McIntyre will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born on July 3, 1945, in St. Catherine, Missouri, Dorothy was the loving daughter of Paul Eakins and Lottie (White) Fryman.

Dorothy retired from the W.I.C. office where she worked as a receptionist. She enjoyed going to country music concerts and always enjoyed going out to eat. Most of all she loved spending time with her friends.

Left to cherish Dorothy's memory is her companion, Stephen Reinhart of North Vernon; sister, Paulette Aschoff of Missouri; nephews, Eddie, Paul, and Randy Aschoff all of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Eakins and Lottie Fryman; brother, Paul Eakins.
