Mrs. Doris Watson

August 30, 1927 - July 26, 2013

Doris Jeanette Clarkson Watson, 85 of North Vernon passed away early Friday morning, July 26, 2013 at her home.

Born, August 30, 1927 in Seymour, Doris was the daughter of the late Loyd and Ida Heacock Downs. She later married Edwin Clarkson on October 4, 1947 in North Vernon. After Edwin's passing, Doris remarried to James Watson on June 26, 2001 in Fostoria, Ohio. He also preceded her in death.

Doris had been employed in the past as Treasure for the Jennings County School Corporation and also as the Deputy Clerk for the Fostoria, Ohio Municipal Court. She was a member of Hayden Baptist Church and had been a fifty year member of the Hayden chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Watson is survived by two daughters, Gail Ann (Wallace) Pfaffenberger and Janis Elaine (Jerry) Schneider both of Seymour, a son James Lee Clarkson of North Vernon, a step-son, Todd (Michelle) Watson of Chardon, Ohio, four grandchildren, Leslie Koomler, Bryan Wilson, Lissa Allman, and Jason Clarkson, seven step-grandchildren, Jim, Brittany, Joel, Jason, and Kyle Watson, Melissa Hartman, and Ashley Gilts, and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Ida Downs, husbands, Edwin Clarkson and James Watson, two sisters, Mildred Maxine Downs and Helen Roane, a brother, Lloyd Downs Jr., and a step-son, Scott Watson.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Mark Sorrels officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home with an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hayden Baptist Church or Angelman's Syndrome Foundation.
