Mrs. Doris I. Hamilton

July 18, 1923 - February 25, 2012

Doris Hamilton, 88, passed peacefully from this world on February 25, 2012. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, James R. Hamilton. Doris and James had three children: David A. (Beverly Bonney) Hamilton of Peru, IN, Patricia J. (Samuel) McCune of Anderson, IN, and James K. Hamilton of North Vernon. There are three treasured grandchildren: Shanon Donnelly of Akron, OH, Casey Donnelly of TorC, NM, and Rachael Hamilton (Spencer) Hinton of Middlesex, NC. She left one great-granddaughter, Rosa May Donnelly, who loved to visit "Grandma Grape." Doris also shared great love and affection for her "fourth child," Nancy McMichael, who was a friend and family member for 60 years, and her granddaughters-in-law, Krystal Marks and Lisa Donnelly.

Doris remained at home with her youngest son, Kelly Hamilton, until three days before her death. She loved reading, quilting, working in her flower gardens and going out to eat with her children.

Doris lived her life enmeshed in love. She was the epitome of strength, selflessness and unconditional love to her immediate and extended family and to anyone who was blessed to know her.

In accordance with her wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral service.
