Dora Hendrickson

January 20, 1928 - April 23, 2009

Dora Hendrickson, 81, of Indianapolis, formerly of North Vernon, passed away Thursday April 23, 2009 at Manorcare Health Care Center in Indianapolis.

Born January 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene Streit Hendrickson. Dora attended St. Mary's Grade School, North Vernon High School, where she played the saxophone. She attended Elkhart Business University, where she graduated as a medical assistant.

Dora worked with Dr. Louis J. Calli, North Vernon, for almost 50 years. Many of their patients became her close friends.

Dora loved to travel to visit family and friends and some of her favorite trips were to Hawaii. She collected dolls, sewed, baked and decorated specialty cakes. She was involved in many church activities. Dora had a special love for her family and was always there to support and care for them. She cherished the holidays when family members would gather at her home to celebrate.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane Mezzanotte of Windermere, Florida; two grandchildren, David and Michelle Mezzanotte; one brother, George Hendrickson of Arizona; three sisters Evelyn Stanley of Franklin, Mary Kriete and Rosie Ketcham of Indianapolis; nephew, Charles Hendrickson of North Vernon, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Eileen, Martine and Thelma; and one brother, Charles Hendrickson.

Burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery following service.

Funeral Information

A rosary service will be conducted at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 9:45AM followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM.
