Mr. Donald John Jeffries

November 14, 1924 - October 23, 2009

Donald John Jeffries, 84 of North Vernon passed away at 9:15 pm on Friday, October 23, 2009 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born on November 14, 1924, Donald was the son of the late Tracy Thornton and Theresa Fehr Jeffries. Donald had served in the United State Army during World War II and later married Dorothy M. Wells. She survives.

Mr. Jeffries retired from Cummins and had also been employed as a Borden milk man in Indianapolis. He enjoyed farming.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Jeffries of North Vernon; a son, Michael Jeffries of North Vernon; two daughters, Karen Carrico of Moores Hill and Kathleen Jeffries of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Brian and Matt Carrico of Indianapolis and Nick Carrico of Moores Hill; and two sisters, Irma Bradley of Tuscon, Arizona and Amber Klopp of Homer, Alaska.

His parents and a sister, Anna Whitham preceded him in death.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with cremation following. A memorial mass is planned but not yet scheduled.
