Donald G. Horton

Donald G. Horton, 77, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 2:54 PM at his home.

Born September 16,1931 in Mt. Sterling KY, he was the son of the late Reese and Myrtie (Conckwright) Horton. He married Emma "Sue" Fortner. She survives.

Mr. Horton attended school in Hardinsburg, KY before moving to North Vernon.

Mr. Horton was employed by Cummins for 35 years and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Diesel Workers Union. He was a 52 year member of the First Christian Church of North Vernon and also attended the Naples Christian Church while wintering in Florida.
Don enjoyed working on his farm in the Vernon area, fishing and carpentry work.
He is survived by his wife, Emma "Sue" Fortner Horton, daughter, Deborah (Danny) Hogg of San Diego, CA, son, Gary Horton of Bloomington, IN, two granddaughters, Angela Hogg of the Cambodia Embassy and Melissa Hogg of High Point, NC and a sister Martha Rayman of Lousiville, KY and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leonard "Buck" Horton, and sisters, Ann Everman and Venus Fallon.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Hogg officiating. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00-1:00 PM at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home.
