Mr. Dennis M. Wilhelm Sr.

January 08, 1949 - January 31, 2013

Dennis M. Wilhelm, Sr., 64, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born January 8, 1949, Dennis was the son of the late Clarence and Dorothy Huber Wilhelm. He married Jeanine on October 12, 1968. She survives.

Dennis served in the United States Navy. He retired from IUPUC in 2011, where he was employed as director of facilities. As a born again Christian, he was a member of Faith Fellowship Church in Greenwood and had formerly been a member of Zion Lake Christian Center. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, glass blowing, music and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanine, of North Vernon; two daughters, Joanie (Doug) VanHorn and Jackie Collins, both of North Vernon; a son, Dennis (Beth) Wilhelm, Jr. of North Vernon; two brothers, Gary Wilhelm of Madison, and Brian Wilhelm of North Vernon; a sister, Pam Bateman of North Vernon; and 14 grandchildren, Allison and Annie Wall, Tim and Molly VanHorn, Chase Buchanan, Phillip and Matthew Wilhelm, Michael Crawford, Caitlin and Josh Dunham, Courtney Zohrlaut, and Kyle, Keith and Katie Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Donald Wilhelm.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Gary Krieg and Rev. Don Langebartles will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
