Deni Lee
Duffitt
December 9, 1960 – April 20, 2018
Deni Lee Duffitt, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister died suddenly, at the age of 57, on April 20th. Deni suffered a massive stroke and was admitted to the University of Louisville Hospital where she later died surrounded by loved ones.
Deni was born December 9, 1960 in Madison, IN and was a graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. Deni met George A. Duffitt, originally of Alexandria, IN, in the late 70's and they were married May 26th, 1984 in Madison, IN. Deni and George shared a home in Zenas, IN for nearly 40 years. Deni retired from Reliance Electric in 2002. In 2006, Deni was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Myasthenia Gravis, and while this disease had a huge impact on her day-to-day life, she never let her illness diminish her generosity, kindness, and love for all the people in her life, especially her five grandchildren. Deni continued her generous spirit in her death by donating her kidneys, for which she was awarded the Kentucky Gift of Life medal.
She is survived by her husband, George A. Duffitt; one sister, Sherri Cole of Lexington, IN; one brother, Dennis Truesdell of Hanover, IN; three children, George B. Duffitt (wife, Amy) of Elizabethtown, PA; Zarah Hileman (husband, Tyler) of Martinsville, IN: and Zane Duffitt (wife, Jessica) of Madison, IN; five grandchildren, Lauren Duffitt, Conor Hileman, Harrison Hileman, Penelope Hileman, and Tillie Hileman. and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Rosemary Truesdell; and a brother, Howard "Lumpy" Truesdell.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 28th at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon, IN from 1-3 pm. A memorial service will be led by Dan Corbin at 3pm.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
