January 15, 1928 - September 07, 2015

Delbert C. Hauersperger, 87, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at his home in North Vernon.

He was born January 15, 1928 in Jennings County to Anthony and Bertha Haag Hauersperger.

Delbert attended school in Hayden and served in the Army, stationed in Panama.
He married Helen Elsner on January 15, 1951 in Jennings County and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2013.

He was a general contractor and former co-owner of the Just-Rite Supermarket in North Vernon. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Delbert enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, following the Cincinnati Reds, collecting baseball cards, gardening, playing softball and bid euchre, squirrel hunting, and watching his sons and grandchildren participate in sports.

He is survived by a daughter, Jane (Herb Patterson) Treadway of Evansville; three sons, Jeff (Kimberly Leeann) Hauersperger of Martinsville, Jamie (Vicki) Hauersperger of North Vernon, and Joe (Beth) of Louisville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, Heather Azbill, Krystal (Brian), Jarrin (Pete) Ferguson, Samantha Dantz, Natalie (Bryan) Banks, Jerett, Jack, Nate, Sarah, and Dawson Hauersperger; nine great-grandchildren, Anna Chirtea, Nicholas and Ariel Treadway, Zoey and Luke Dantz, Kiley Moore, Kailey, Avery Rose, and Aiden Ferguson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jerry Hauersperger; four grandchildren, Tim Treadway, Joshua, Justin and Jesse Hauersperger; three sisters, Bernice Colvin, Loretta Wilson, and Mary Woodard, three brothers, Gerald, Raymond, and Elmer Hauersperger.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Four Corners. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
