David C. "Stubby" Nantz, Sr., 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Jennings Health Care Center.
Born November 8, 1938, in Helton, KY, David was the son of Dewey and Myrtle Shell Nantz.
David worked as a carpenter in the construction business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was an avid musician and gardener. He was a member of the V.F.W, AmVets and the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities.
He is survived by four sons, David Nantz, Jr., of North Vernon, Larry and Jason Nantz, both of Butlerville, Donald A Fox of Lexington, TN; one brother, Tony Nantz of Butlerville; six sisters, Eva, Faye, Hollie, Shirley, Virginia, and Helen; grandchildren Carrie, Sarah, and Kourtney Nantz, Daniel Bryant, Matt and Erika Estes; two great - grandchildren, Jace Clem and Peyton Bryant; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Roscoe, Ralph, William, Ken, and Paul Nantz; and granddaughter Jessica Clem.
Funeral Information
A life celebration service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 25 at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral home in North Vernon. Interment will follow at Scaffold Lick Cemetery in Blocher, IN, with graveside military honors. Visitation will be from 10 am until 12 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
