Mr. Daniel N. Slabaugh

July 10, 1957 - May 17, 2014

Daniel N. Slabaugh, 56, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at his residence.

Born July 10, 1957, in Ashland, OH, Dan was the son of the late Max and Loretta Weyrick Slabaugh. He married Claudia Grayson and she survives.

After earning his master's degree, Dan had been employed as a business consultant and a freelance sports writer for The Republic. He was the creator of the blog, "Digging out Truth". He was a member of St. Mary's Church, and a former member of St. Bartholomew Church and St. Joseph Church. He served in Mass as a cantor and Eucharistic minister, and was a member of the choir and Sine Nomine vocal ensemble. He also volunteered as a Court Appointed Child Advocate (CASA).

In addition to his wife, Claudia, Dan is survived by three sons, Nicholas (Jennifer) Slabaugh of Columbus, Timothy Slabaugh of Avon, and Christopher Slabaugh of Elizabethtown; and two sisters, Julie (Rev. Thomas) Schiefer of Nappanee, and Jill (Rev. David) Stone of Sarasota, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Slabaugh.

Funeral Information

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery at Four Corners.
