Cynthia Jane O'Mara, 74, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Schneck Medical Center.
Born on October 9, 1937, in Kokomo, Cynthia was the daughter of George and Lillian Doktor Crist. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1955. She married James Leo O'Mara on June 11, 1955. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. O'Mara had worked for Home Federal Bank. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she played music for 40 years. She had been a member of Clionian Club, Homemaker's Extension and Psi Iota Xi Sorority, and a volunteer at the Historical Society. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, music and watching the Indianapolis Colts. She was a loving mother, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events.
Mrs. O'Mara is survived by 3 daughters, Susan Brown of North Vernon, Barbara Lockhart of Muncie, and Mary Stuckwisch of Seymour; a son, Mark O'Mara of Seymour; mother-in-law, Juanita Mock of North Vernon; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Tom O'Mara; 3 sisters, Margaret Schafer, Jean Brown and Dorothy Crist; and 2 brothers, George and Vernon Crist.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. A rosary service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary's School or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
