October 20, 1928 - January 31, 2016
Curtis Leroy Yeager, 87, of Middletown, IN, passed away at 3:35 a.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born October, 20, 1928, in North Vernon, Curtis was the son of the late Ernest and Mildred (Williams) Yeager. He attended grade school in Zenas, IN and high school in New Castle, IN where he was a basketball stand out. He was married to Deborah (Kemmerer) Yeager. She survives.
Curtis served in the U. S. Navy. He had worked as a postman and retired from Delco Remy. He enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle and llamas and spent his retirement years operating the local food bank. Curtis was a member of the Lion's Club, the Loyal Order of Moose and a 50-year Mason of Local #271 Valley of Indianapolis. He started the food bank with the assistance of the local masonic lodge. In 1976, Curtis had been injured in a farming accident resulting in the loss of both arms.
In addition to his wife, Curtis is survived by two daughters, Krista Anderson of Huntington and Brenda Daffron of Lake Placid, FL; one son, Jeffrey Yeager of Shelby Twp., MI; one sister, Reba Yeager-Lucas of Seymour; three brothers, George Yeager of Butlerville, Miles "Fred" Yeager of Lakeland, FL, and Anthony "Tony" Yeager of North Vernon; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mildred Yeager; and four brothers, Marion, Walter, Thomas and Byron Yeager.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Donations Information
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the North Vernon Moose Lodge.
