Cora Perkins, 96, of Butlerville passed away at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Jennings Healthcare Center.

Born March 6, 1916 in Hamilton, OH, Cora was the daughter of William and Lena Hannah Gentner Welch. She married Charles L. Perkins on October 22, 1943.

Cora had been a homemaker. She loved gardening, quilting, working crossword and picture puzzles, playing euchre, and board games. She was an avid Indiana University Basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. She raised chickens and sold eggs in the sixties. She also made many pounds of butter, canned and would freeze goods for her family.

She is survived by two sons, Tom Perkins of Unionville, and Don Perkins of Hanover; one sister, Ida Huffman of Butlerville; and one brother, Thomas W. Welch of Butlerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Georgia Bruce, and Laura E. Speer.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral Home with the Rev Frank J. McGee officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral Home.
