It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence Albert Vogel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Clarence passed away on April 11, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. He is leaving behind a legacy built on his unwavering dedication to farming, family, and faith. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Bobby Vogel and Deacon Larry French will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15th at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Clarence was born on July 8, 1937, in North Vernon, Indiana, to Albert and Ethel (Maschino) Vogel. He married Mary Jane (Horstman) on November 26, 1959. Clarence and Mary Jane enjoyed 65 years of wedded bliss. Clarence lived his entire life in the close-knit community of North Vernon where he was deeply rooted in agriculture. He was a full-time farmer with his son, David, at Vogel Farms, Inc. He dedicated himself to nurturing the land and contributing to the well-being of those around him. His commitment to the agricultural community was exemplified through his service on the ASCS County Committee for many years, where he represented the interests of local farmers with pride and integrity. He served in the Indiana National Guard and also worked at Elsner Construction from 1957 to 1959 and delivered the mail from 1961 to 1962. Clarence was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. He was also an active member of the Four Corners Knights of Columbus, embodying the values of charity and fellowship. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, kind heart, and the unwavering love he shared with his family and friends. Clarence is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jane and children, Karen (John) Koop, Debra (John) Carroll and David (Jenny) Vogel. Clarence loved his grandchildren, Scott Richardson, Kevin (Stephanie) Richardson, Laura (Braden) Adams, Emily Richardson, Eileen (Zach) Rohrbach, John (Lindsey Daum) Carroll, Ashley (Shane) Lakins, Allison (Evan) Hurr, Amy (Sylas Applegate) Vogel and Andrew Vogel. He also had 8 great grandchildren, Caroline, James and Mary Rohrbach, Raven and Ivy Adams, Alexandra Richardson, Madisyn Lakins and Amelia Hurr. Clarence is also survived by two brothers, Gilbert (Joyce) Vogel and Melvin (Rebecca) Vogel, as well as many nieces and nephews all of whom carry forward his legacy of love and devotion. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorene Maschino and niece Martha Vogel. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, with heartfelt gratitude for the support of those who provided kindness and care. Clarence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
