Obituary

Clarence Earl Moore, 91, of Butlerville passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:31 p.m. at St. Vincent – Jennings Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Debi Black will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday with a Masonic Service being conducted at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites will be at Otter Creek Cemetery.

Born September 22, 1933 in Burney, Clarence Earl was the son of Hubert and Marybelle Keith Moore. He married Mary Jane Burgess on June 21, 1958.

Clarence Earl graduated from North Vernon High School in 1951. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 -1956 where he toured from the North Pole to the South Pole. He was a Tool & Die Maker and worked at Arvin Industries, Impact Forge, and Stone Tool & Die. He also worked in butcher shops, farmed, and volunteered working Bingo at the VFW Post 2021.

He was a member of Otter Creek Baptist Church where he served as Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #219, Rolling Hills Shrine Club, Murat Temple, and Scottish Rite. He made over five hundred trips transporting children to the various Shrine Hospitals over the years. In 2004 Clarence Earl was Republican of the year and served as a Precinct Committeeman in Campbell Township. Fishing, woodworking, gardening, cooking, trapping, and hunting were among his favorite things to do. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Hoosiers fan. His favorite tractors were International Harvesters.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Moore of Butlerville; daughter, Marge (Kavan) Gray of Butlerville; son, David (Kathy) Moore of Butlerville; brothers John Moore of Butlerville, and Gene Moore of Columbus; grandchildren, Kate and Quinn (Emily) Gray, Molly (Caymen) Crouch, and Cy Moore; great-grandchildren, Henry, Emmett, Finnley and Beau Gray; several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Marybelle Moore; stepmother, Zella Moore; grandparents, Clarence and Ada Jane Keith; son, Daniel Moore; brother, James Moore; sisters in law, Patty & Frances Moore.

Memorials may be made in Clarence Earl's memory through the funeral home to the Mercy Rescue, Shriner's Children's Hospital, Otter Creek Cemetery.
