Clara M. Suhre, 93, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at New Bethel United Methodist Church. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Flat Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.

Born on September 15, 1930, in Decatur, CO., Clara was the loving daughter of Paul E. and Mabel F. (Porters) Byard. She was united in marriage to David L. Suhre on April 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2002.

Clara had a shop in town called Susie's Sugar and Spice and had been a homemaker. She was a faithful member of New Bethel United Methodist Church, where she played a vital part in serving her most Gracious Heavenly Father being very active in her church and she played the piano for many years. Clara enjoyed crocheting, raising a greenhouse, and farming. She was a foster parent over the years. Most of all, Clara loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish Clara's memory are sons, Bill (Darlene) Suhre, and John (Margaret) Suhre all of North Vernon; daughter, Donna (Eugene) Kreutzjans of North Vernon; brother, Dennis Byard of North Vernon; grandchildren, Nathan and Evan Large, Jason, Jeremy Suhre, Rachel Ertel, Wendy Cartwright, Annie Jones, Johny Suhre, Gary and Greg Kreutzjans; twenty six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mabel Byard; daughter, Margaret Large; son in law, Bob Large; brothers, Bill, Clifford, and Leslie (Squeak) Byard; sister, Bonnie McKinney; granddaughter, Claire Large.
