Charles Patrick "Pat" Ward, 63, of Butlerville, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Mitch Harrell will officiate. Burial will be in the Butlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the funeral home.
Born on September 30, 1958, in Seymour, Pat was the loving son of Charles C. and Nina (Hayton) Ward. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Broadus on June 1, 2016 at the Muscatatuck Park.
Pat graduated in 1976 from Jennings County High School. Earlier on, he had worked for 16 years at Grumman-Olsen in Sturgis, Michigan, where he was a team leader in manufacturing making UPS and Mail trucks. He later worked 8 years as a Waterworks plant operator for the City of North Vernon. He was a member of the Zenas Baptist Church. Pat served for 7 years with the National Guard. He was a former Boy Scout Master. Pat loved watching old westerns, going fishing, camping, and being outdoors. He was a huge Indianapolis Colts Fan. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn Ward of Butlerville, survivors include sons, James Patrick (Melissa) Ward and Joe (April) Ward all of North Vernon, and Jamie (Beth) Law of Hope; daughters, Stephanie (Daniel) Baker, and Tara Leonard all of Columbus; brothers, Mike (Cheryl) Ward of Zenas, and Anthony "Tony" (Janet) Ward of Holliston, MASS; sister, Diana Darby of North Vernon; grandchildren, Austin (Erin) Elkins, Dylan (Ariana) Elkins, Ryan Leonard, Jason, DeeAnna, Cierra, and Josette Ward, Zachary, and Paige Baker, William, Nicholas, Emily, and Sara Law; great grandchildren, Piper and Palmer Elkins, former wife, Cindy Ward of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nina Ward; wife, Loretta Ward.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Kidney Foundation or Zenas Baptist Church.
