Charles M. Parks, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, August 5, 2023, at his home.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City, IN. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.

Born on May 30, 1947, in Richmond, IN., Charles was the loving son of Frank and Gertrude (Walsh) Parks.

Charles was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He had been very active in the Jennings County Players for many years. He graduated from Ball State University. Charles was a teacher at Jennings County Middle School for over 30 years where he had taught English and History. He enjoyed traveling, reading, music, and playing drums.

Survivors include sisters, Patricia Thurston-Enney of Carmel; Carolyn Williams of Sevierville, TN, and Norma Dodd of Middletown, OH; brother, Melvin Parks of New Paris, OH.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gertrude Parks; brothers, Alfred Douglas Statzer, and Robert Statzer.
