Mr. Charles Russell Mock

March 29, 1919 - September 11, 2009

Charles Russell Mock, 90 of North Vernon passed away at 6:29 PM on Friday, September 12, 2009 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born March 29, 1919 in Crawford County, Charles was the son of the late Harrison and Lucy Brown Mock. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II and then married Evelyn Records and she preceded him in death. He later married Juanita Campbell O'mara on June 26, 1970. She survives. He retired from Triad Steel as a supervisor.

Mr. Mock had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, VFW Post 2021, the American Legion, and the Eagles.

Charles was survived by his wife, a son, Douglass (Amy) Mock of Taylorsville, two grandsons, David Mock of Columbus and Steve Mock of Taylorsville, two step-sons, Dave O'mara of North Vernon and Jerry O'mara of Columbus, and a step-daughter Rosemary Shaw of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn, a brother, Howard Mock, and a step-son Jim O'mara.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathon Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM and from 10 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Vernon Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the North Vernon' Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 2021.
