Obituary
Catherine M. Smith, 92, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:33 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Premier Healthcare of North Vernon.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017, at Vernon Cemetery.
Born September 20, 1924, in Kobe, Japan, Catherine was the daughter of the late Suekichi Miyasaki and Cho Kyshiwada. She married Jack N. Smith on September 19, 1982 in Tennessee. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2005.
Catherine was an avid golfer and life member of VFW Post 2021 Ladies Auxillary.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sherry (Mark) Gerth of Madison; a stepson, Rick (Susan) Smith of Seymour; three step granddaughters, Paula (Donnie) McAlister of Madison, Christina (Kurt) Russell of Melbourne, Florida and Angela (Tommy) Mellencamp of Seymour; three step grandsons, Shad (Kelsie) Gerth of Madison, Patrick Smith and Brent Smith of Seymour; four step great grandchildren, Brandon McAlister, Brianna McAlister, Tanner Gerth and Madelynne Gerth.
