Mrs. Catherine L. Herr

Catherine L. Herr, 86, North Vernon, passed on January 8, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. at the Jennings Health Care Center.

Born on October 7, 1923 in Nabb, Indiana to the parents of the late Joe and Alzadia Peck McMillen. She married Chalmer D. Herr in 1965. He preceded her in death.

Catherine retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. She was a member of Vernon Baptist Church and TOPPS. She enjoyed cooking, working in her garden and her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ann Taylor of Greenwood; four sons, Billy Joe Bower of Pueblo, Co., Jerry Bower of North Vernon, Eddie Bower of Commiskey, and Paul Bower of North Vernon; 9 Grandchildren, Joseph Bower, Lorene Bower-Holly, Heidi Stewart, Kieona Eder, Bud Taylor, Cathi Hubbard, Brian Sawyer, Marla Tebo and Kara Adams; 12 Great-Grandchildren; a brother, Martin McMillen of Nabb.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral Information

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home, in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Mark Sorels will be officiating. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.
