Cassandra Ray Speer, 23, of North Vernon, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at her home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. The Rev. Anthony Sweeney will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Born October 19, 1993, in Indianapolis, Cassandra was the daughter of Ray Allen and Grace Mary (Davis) Speer.

Cassandra had worked as a waitress. She loved life and always saw the good in people, and she dearly loved her family. She enjoyed shopping, getting her hair and nails done, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her father, Ray Speer of North Vernon; Sister, Codie Brooks of Scipio; niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Robert Brooks of Scipio; grandparents, William and Dixie Gerhard of Scipio; three aunts, Bethany (Tim) Murphy of North Vernon, Shalom (Dale) Drummond of Bloomington, and Merrily (Keith) Geary of New Albany; three uncles, John Gerhard of Scipio, Evan (Katelyn) Gerhard of CT, and Chandan Gerhard of Scipio; and twelve cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Speer, and her uncle, Arthur Wilcoxin.
