Mrs. Carolyn Hess

July 29, 1935 - February 10, 2012

Carolyn Hess, 76, of North Vernon, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born July 29, 1935, in Jackson County, Mrs. Hess was the daughter of Harley and Esther Biddle Gruber. She married Wilbur Hess, who preceded her in death on January 17, 2003.

Mrs. Hess was a member of First Christian Church in North Vernon. She was formerly a member of Reddington Christian Church. She worked for Muscatatuck State Development Center for 10 years. She enjoyed baking, cooking and church activities.

Carolyn is survived by 3 children, Ralph Hess of Henryville, Carl Hess of North Vernon and Teresa Robison of Seymour; and 4 grandchildren, Benjamin and Hannah Hess, Carla Richards and Brandy Engelking.

Mrs. Hess was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Paul Gruber and 4 sisters, Jean Hall, Betty Montgomery, Joan Lacy and Mary Taylor.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at 10:00 am at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with Rev. Anthony Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, February 13, 2012 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
