Carlene R. Pershing

Carlene R. Pershing, 71, of North Vernon, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at 12:15 p.m. at Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

Born on September 3, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Robert and Julia (Bowman) Place. She married Ronald Pershing on August 3, 1957 at 4:00p.m. He survives.

Mrs. Pershing was a secretary for the South Bend School Corporation and worked at the Jennings County Public Library. She was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Red Hat Club, Garden Club, Ladies Circle at CSL and a member of Christian Science Society of Madison.

She is survived by her husband, daughters, Rebecca (Steve) Carothers of Fort Wayne, Kyla (Paul) Peacock of Cincinnati, a son Timothy (Kristina) Pershing of Louisiana, four grandchildren, Lyndsay and Taya Carothers, and Eleanor and April Peacock.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00-3:00 prior to the service at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home.
