It's with great sadness, we share the news that Calvin Russell of Scipio, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on October 2, 1954, in Titus, Texas, Calvin spent many years as a truck driver, navigating the roads and building a life that centered around his family and faith.

Calvin and his loving wife, Karen Russell, shared a beautiful life together. He was the proud father of Priscilla Clemons, Rashad (Lindsay) Russell, Maiya (Jake) Messer, and Mawasse (Nick Horner) Russell. Calvin cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather to Skyphoenix Janes, Isaiah Canody, Kaleb Canody, Arabella Messer, Havilah Horner, and four great-grandchildren. He found endless joy in spending time with them.

A loyal member of Crossroads Community Church, Calvin was known for his warm smile, love for singing, and deep faith. He was passionate about reading his Bible and sharing the good news with those around him. His interests didn't stop there; Calvin enjoyed working out, playing cards, and dominos. A true fan of westerns, he found peace in the stories that reminded him of simpler times.

Calvin will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially his brothers, Steve and Willie Russell.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Calvin's life with a public visitation at Crossroads Community Church in Scipio, IN, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service honoring his memory at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made in Calvin's memory to Crossroads Community Church.
