Bob Vogel, 65, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at his residence.
Born August 15, 1948, in Jennings County, Bob was the son of the late Sylvester and Irene Elsner Vogel. He graduated from North Vernon High School in 1966. He married Pauline Beesley on December 5, 1970. She survives.
Bob retired from Cummins, Inc., in 1997 after 31 years of service. He had also been employed in maintenance at Seymour Tubing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed collecting rocks, metal working and flying. He enjoyed building, and had built a covered bridge and teepees.
In addition to his wife, Pauline, Bob is survived by four daughters, Amy (Jeff) Waggoner and Jami Vogel of North Vernon, Chatney (Chris) Morey and Karey Vogel of Virginia; three sons, Yancey (Kim) Vogel of Brownstown, Corey Vogel of Texas, and Cody (Jessica) Vogel of Seymour; five brothers, Tom and Paul Vogel and Henry Carr of North Vernon, Leonard Vogel of Madison, and David Carr of Sellersburg; eight sisters, Kathlene Baurley, Elizabeth Bridges and Joyce Vogel, all of North Vernon, Anna Mae Raver of Oldenburg, Marie Laymon of Lexington, Jeanette Heckman of Michigan, Maria Tempest of Pekin, and Coleen Gerth of Seymour; grandchildren, Amanda Ferguson, Arica, Jonathan, Alydia and Jeremiah Waggoner, Cynthia Jones, Alex Wheeler, Molly Vogel, Casper, Chance, Cyrus, Crisney, Creek, Cricket, Crism, Crosley, Cage, Clover and Cant Morey, Nichole Beeman, Lexi Corcoran, and Haydn Vogel; and great grandchildren, Marie Ferguson, DJ Ferguson and Emma Jones.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Edith Carr Vogel; brother, Charles Vogel; and grandson Kenneth Brewer.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rosary service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
