Mr. Blane R. Cross

Blane R. Cross, 66, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood.

Born January 4, 1949, in Bristol, VA, Blane was the son of the late Fred and Lyda (Callahan) Cross. He married Mary Scharbrough on January 24, 2007. She survives.

Blane had been employed by All Seasons Insulation. He enjoyed watching the Colts and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Mary, Blane is survived by six sons, Lee Cross of Westport, Kevin Cross and Shawn Cross, both of North Vernon, Tony Shuffitt of Columbus, Jimmy Swafford of Gosport, Shane Swafford of Spencer; three daughters, Candy Eggert and Angie Unsworth, both of North Vernon, and Barbara Ramey of Noblesville; three sisters, Irene Walterman and Jenny Moore of Greensburg, and Judy Zapfe of Westport; two brothers, Jerry Cross of Greensburg and Randy Cross of Olney, IL; 16 grandchildren, Aiden Williams, Isaac Swafford, David Eggert, Amanda Shuffitt, Shawn Campbell, and Josh, Kali, Derrick, Randi, Brandon, Remington, Michael, Mishca, Lacy, Devin and Sylvia Cross; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Freddie, Scottie and Teddy Cross.

Funeral Information

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon.
