Billy Joe Fletcher, Sr., 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:30 pm on September 18, 2011 at his residence.
Born November 7, 1934, in Casey, IL, Billy Joe was the son of Speed and Jean Fletcher. He married Patricia Ann Dickerson on February 22, 1953. She survives.
Mr. Fletcher was a long distrance truck driver and transportation specialist for 38 years. He enjoyed reading his Bible and mowing grass.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Fletcher is survived by 5 sons, Mark David (Louann) Fletcher and James Speed (Celia) Fletcher of Martinsville, IN, Billy Joe (Donna) Fletcher, Jr. and Matthew Allen Fletcher of North Vernon, IN, and Andrew Scott (Terri) Fletcher, Sr., of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Patty Jean (Bruce) Schlehuser of Putnamville, IN; 1 brother, Robert H. Fletcher; one sister, Marie Carnahan; 11 grandchildren, Andrea Shea Rafferty, Racheal Ray Hadley, Jamie Jo Cranfill, April Ann Ayers, Jessica June Knoy, Billy Joe Fletcher, III, Melissa Carole Fletcher, Andrew Scott Fletcher, Jr., Taylor Cheyanne Fletcher, Jennifer Michelle Parker, and Randell Rinehart; and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, James E. and Max Howard Fletcher; 2 sisters, Leona Thompson and Ina Mae Baxter; and grandson, Steve Hindman, Jr.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. The Rev. Dale Boyd will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
