Obituary


Billy Joe Fletcher Jr., born on October 2, 1974, in Seymour, the son of Billy Joe Fletcher Sr. and Martha June Smith Fletcher, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 51 in Commiskey.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Larry Dalton will officiate. Visitation will follow from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be in Vernon Cemetery at a later date.

Joe spent over two decades working in concrete construction, where he built a strong partnership with his best friend, Rick Vance. Most recently, he was employed at Dupont Utilities, bringing both skill and dedication to his work.

Joe was known for his love of the outdoors, especially when it came to hunting. Whether he was in the woods or around the dinner table, his family always felt the warmth of his passion and commitment to the people he loved.

He leaves behind a family that includes his father, Billy Joe Fletcher Sr.; his stepmother, Sandra Fletcher; his sons, Billy Joe Fletcher III and Jacob Lawrence (Kori) Fletcher; his sisters, Elaine (Brandon) Croxton and Becky (Sharriff) Mayes; half-sisters, Michelle (Tim) Taylor, and Julie (Wayne) Stewart; and his cherished grandchildren, Braelyn, Emmalia, Layla, Colton, Xander, Miley, and Tripp. He also leaves behind nephews and nieces, Dalton, Alissa, Rebecca, Trey, and Brittany.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Martha June Fletcher; grandparents, Jim and Helen Fletcher, and Edith Jaynes and Delbert Smith.

He was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Memorials may be made in Joe's memory through the funeral home to the family.
