Billy E. Castetter, 89, of North Vernon passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Norton's Hospital in Louisville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Vernon Cemetery. Bob Ochs and Masonic Lodge #59 will officiate.

Born January 15, 1935, in Jennings County, Billy was the son of Floyd and Sarah Miles Castetter. He married Joann D. McGill on December 14, 1957. She preceded him in death on November 24, 2018.

He had served in the Army National Guard for fourteen years. He was a retired general contractor who built many homes and commercial buildings in Jennings County.

Billy was a member of First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #59, Rolling Hills Shrine Club, and Scottish Rite. He built the first Jennings County Humane Society which he and his wife Joann were very active in for many years.

He is survived by sisters, Jeanie Mercer of FL, Sally Owens of North Vernon; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Sarah Castetter; wife, Joann D. Castetter; sister, Barbara Proctor; brother, Dave Castetter.
