Billy Gene Caffee Sr.

Billy Gene Caffee Sr., 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:20 pm on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Jennings Health Care Center of North Vernon.

Born September 4, 1932 in Edmonton, KY, he was the son of the late Omer and Mattie Brown Caffee.

Billy had worked for Cosco for 42 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, cooking, playing Aggravation, dining out and children.

He is survived by his sons, Arland (Cherrie) Caffee of Henryville, Terry (Wanda) Caffee of North Vernon, Mark (Marilyn) Caffee of Nabb, and Omer Caffee of North Vernon, a daughter, Laura (John) Collett of Butlerville,three step-sons, Jerry and Jim Russell of North Vernon, Allen Jobe of Edmonton, KY., a step-daughter, Anita Strode of Seymour three sisters, Shirley Wilson of Queensville, Edna Latin of Westport, Laura Gearlds of Atlanta, Texas and two brothers Melvin Caffee of Brownstown and Chester Caffee of Columbus, 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Caffee was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ben Caffee a sister, Nellie Dickson and son, Billy Gene Caffee Jr.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Biggs officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
