Obituary

Betty Mae Vaughn, age 89, of North Vernon, Indiana, formerly of Franklin, Ohio, was called home on July 9th, 2026.

Betty was born on May 1, 1937, in West Carrollton, Ohio, to James and Gertrude (Shock) Willis. She married the love of her life, Dillard Vaughn, on May 10, 1952.

Betty dedicated her life to her family and community. She was known as a true prayer warrior, loved the Lord fiercely and when able you could always find her at church. In recent years, she faithfully attended Redemption Pentecostal Church of God, but she spent most of her life worshiping at Roberts Drive Pentecostal Holiness Church. She also enjoyed sewing, shopping with her daughter, and took great pride in tending her beautiful flower beds. Betty's family will fondly remember her for her strong spirit and that she touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Above all, Betty cherished the time spent with family. She is survived by her son, Dillard Ray (Karen) Vaughn, and daughter Mellisa (Scott) McGuire, both of North Vernon, Indiana; her grandchildren, Lori (Greg) Vann, Andrea Vaughn, and Ethan McGuire; and her great-grandchildren, Mason and Haley Pittman, Brock, Carson, Colin and Madison Vann, Keagan and Patryk Young, and Parker McGuire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her son, Douglas Vaughn; her brothers, Bobby and Roy Willis; her sisters, Bonnie Estes and Barbara Smith.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 13th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sawyer Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service, 115 S. State Street, North Vernon, Indiana 47265.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Roberts Drive Pentecostal Holiness Church, 9569 Roberts Drive, Franklin, Ohio 45005. Rev. Jimmy Jewell and Rev. Claude Fouts will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at Hillgrove Union Cemetery in Miamisburg, Ohio. Following the burial, a meal will be served in the church fellowship hall for family and friends.

Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin, Ohio has been entrusted with conduction the funeral service in Franklin, Ohio.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Betty's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and her legacy of faith, compassion, and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
