Bert Ritchie, 92, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Frank McGee will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Born on December 30, 1929, in Knott County, Kentucky, Bert was the loving son of Gabe and Norsey Ritchie.

Bert retired from Berry Materials, then worked for several years at Regal Rugs. He was of the old Southern Baptist Faith. He enjoyed hunting yellowroot, ginseng, rabbits, coons, and squirrels. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Bert is survived by daughters, Margie Bowling of North Vernon, Donna Ritchie of North Vernon, Janice Collins of North Vernon, and Wanda (Danny) White of Seymour; sons, Dale Fields of Edinburg, Matthew (Tonya) Ritchie of North Vernon, Albert (Patty Zapfe) Ritchie of North Vernon, Mark (Dawn) Ritchie of North Vernon, and Tracy Ritchie of North Vernon; brothers, Carl Ritchie North Vernon, and French Ritchie of North Vernon; sisters, Marie Perry of North Vernon, and Rachel Perry of North Vernon; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabe and Norsey Ritchie; daughter, Monna Lou Ritchie; son, Luke Ritchie; sister, Malvery Hartwell; brother, Elmer Ritchie; two infant siblings.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the Family for expenses.
