Bernice Philpot, 61, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:31 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at her residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.  Rev. John Willis will officiate.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born July 16, 1956, in Cincinnati, OH, Bernice was the daughter of the late Manuel and Cora Kelly Durham.  She married Clyde Gordon Philpot, Sr. on July 21, 1972.  He survives.

Bernice was a loving mother and strong, faithful wife.  She was strong in her faith and was a member of First Apostolic Church of North Vernon.  Bernice enjoyed painting and reading.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Clyde Philpot, Sr. of North Vernon; four sons, Clyde (Jr.) and Clayton Philpot of North Vernon, Timothy (Angela) Philpot of Scottsburg and Jason (Stephanie) Philpot of Greensburg; two daughters, Jessica Philpot of North Vernon and Sharon (Denver) Smith of Deputy; one brother, Simon Messer of Butlerville; one sister, Diane Philpot of Seymour; fourteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Cora Durham and one brother, Eugene Durham.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to donor's choice of charity.
