February 18, 1948 - January 25, 2013

Barbara D. Martin, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:41 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born February 18, 1948 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Barbara was the daughter of the late Delmer and Elsie Arlene Absher Brown. She later married Howard E. Martin, Sr. on June 11, 1966 in Indianapolis. He survives.
Mrs. Martin enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, watching ice-skating events, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Howard, two sons, Howard E. (Candice) Martin, Jr. and Jason Dell (Kelli) Martin both of North Vernon, a daughter, Stephanie Carol (Kevin) Coleman of Trafalgar, four granddaughters, Britaney Marie (Tanner) Lahmers, Courtney Lynn Martin, Carlee Ann Minor and Alexius Martin, nine grandsons, Cameron Lee (Jessica) Coleman, Matthew Lee Coleman, Jonathan Brice Coleman, Andrew Ethan Coleman, Aaron Michael Martin, Austin Tyler Martin, Dyllon Lee Martin, John Flynn and Levi Martin, one great-granddaughter, Madison Mae-Marie Walker, a brother, Gary Wayne (Pat) Brown of Madison, and a sister, Karen (Ralph) Profitt of Whitesburg, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Delmer, and her step-mother, Kathleen Brown.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Sue Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
