Anthony Lee Kane, 82, of North Vernon passed away at 1:35 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015, at St. Vincent - Jennings Hospital.
Born August 20, 1932, Lee was the son of Henry C. and Clara C. Daeger Kane. He married Sheila Sprickerhoff on April 16, 1955, at St. Mary's Church.
He graduated from Vernon High School in 1950. He was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for thirty-five years before retiring. Lee was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Smiling Seniors, and the National Association of Letter Carriers since 1953. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, woodworking, and square dancing.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Sheila Kane of North Vernon; sons, Pat (Lisa) Kane of Greenwood, Mike (Christie) Kane of Clarksville, Tim (Lisa) Kane of Greensburg, and Jim Kane of North Vernon; daughters, Angie (Dan) James of Indianapolis, Carmel (Jay) Campfield of North Vernon, and Felicia (Richard) Vogel of North Vernon; grandchildren, Kevin, Alex, Grant, Chris, Ryan, Nathan, Maggie, Luke, and Austin Kane, Jed Campfield, Eric and Michael James, Colby, Jessi, and Xavier Vogel, Kate Brumfield, and Dylan Ralston; one great-grandchild, Camryn Kane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Paul J. Kane.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev's. Jerry Byrd, and John Meyer will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Donations Information
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School Endowment or the Vernon High School Endowment through the funeral home.
