Mrs. Ann Bishop

March 19, 1930 - November 27, 2012

Ann Bishop, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility.

Born March 19, 1930, in Madison, IN, Ann was the daughter of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Hall Ackerman. She married Keith Bishop on January 10, 1953. He preceded her in death.

Ann graduated from college as a registered nurse, and retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where she was employed as a mental health administrator. She had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Hospital Nurses Alumni, Columbia Extension Club and Red Cross Board of Directors. She enjoyed traveling and volunteering.

Survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Murphy and Theresa Browning, both of Butlerville, Catherine Webster and Amy Ponsler , both of North Vernon; two sons, John Bishop of North Vernon and William K. Bishop of Hartsville, IN; one sister, Elizabeth Sullivan of Madison; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ann was preceded in death by one son, James "Bo" Bishop and one daughter, Mary "Dee Dee" Bishop.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Jonathan Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rosary service will be at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
